Eligibility of Applicants & Criteria for Language Proficiency

Eligibility of Applicants

New(Freshmen) Students

            ‧  Both an applicant and the applicant's parents should be non-Korean nationals.
            ‧  The applicant is(or is expected to be) a high school graduate or has attained the equivalent.

Transfer Students

‧ Both an applicant and the applicant's parents should be non-Korean nationals.
‧ The applicant has completed or is expected to complete 2 year's course ( 4 regular semesters) or

more than 2 year's course in a 4-year university. The applicant has received required credits or
has received or is expected to receive an associate degree in a 2/3-year col ege or has attained
the equivalent.

Criteria for Language Proficiency

Al requirements should be met.

Level 3 or higher on TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean) offered by either NIIED or
KNU.

※

Applicants must pass the TOPIK level 4 or higher offered by NIIED before graduation.

Applicants who apply for Division of International Studies(DIS) can replaced the TOPIK to

English Language Test. Applicants should meet at least one of the fol owing requirements.
TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600 or equivalent such as
national y accredited Private English Language Proficiency Test

※

Applicants who are from English speaking countries that use English as their native

language or a legal official language are required to submit proof of completion of
secondary or higher education, such as a graduation certificate etc. No submission of
the English or Korean language Proficiency Test scores needed.

If the documents are not in Korean or English, submit the documents with notarized ones

Overseas academic records(transcripts, graduation certificates) should be submitted

as one of the following forms.

‧ Official certificates submitted with the attachment of “Apostil e”
‧ Official certificates with the attachment of an Authentification issued by the Korean Embassy or

consulate, or the candidate’s home country Embassy in Korea

‧ [Chinese students only] Official certificates registered with the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The family relationship certificate should show the relationships between the parents and

the applicant. If the relationship does not appear due to the parents' death or divorce, the
additional document should submit to show the relationship.

Applicants should submit additional documents as KNU requests and submitted documents

wil not be returned to the applicants.

※ Oral examination is the method of interview, but additional tests will be given if the

Department requires to do so.

※ Phone & skype interviews are available if applicants who are staying other than Korea

and apply for the interview in advance. Any applicants who fail to show on the

designated interview time or cannot have the interview with any other reasons will be

canceled on their admissions.

B. Assessment principle

- Unsatisfied requirements, unsatisfied documents, no show on the interview, those who

received less than 60 points will fail the admission.

- The grades below the decimal point are rounded off to the third decimal place.

Application Fee

A. Application fee: 60,000KRW(should be paid online only)

B. Reasons for Application fee Refund

- 40,000KRW is refundable for unsuccessful candidates(Level 1: Document review, 20,000KRW, Level

2(Interview) 40,000KRW)

※ Enter the bank account number, account holder, and bank name exactly when submitting the

application

- If the applicant could not be present on the interview due to natural disaster, being hospitalized

or death, application fee 60,000KRW will be refunded.

※ Only if the applicant has submitted the supporting documents by Friday, July 26, 2019, the

refund will be made if the reasons are reasonable.

- If the applicant paid more than the amount of original fee, the difference only will be refunded.

In this case, the fee for use of the network is deducted from the amount of return for the

applicant.

Registration deadline wil be announced after the notification of admission decision.

Ⅸ

Important Notes for Applicants

A. For the purpose of undergraduate admission, collect and use of applicants personal

information as below.

- Collection and use items: Name, resident registration number, address, high school the

applicant graduate, phone number, mobile phone number, email, bank

account number for refund, etc.

- Purpose of collection and use: Materials for university admission & student services,

scholarship, university admission statistics, selection of student

dormitory, student welfare (health care) etc.

- Retention and use period: After attaining the goals, retention period has elapsed.

Therefore, the information is deleted without delay.

- Sharing and Providing: It is used only for the purpose as mentioned the above, and

does not use or provide beyond without the consent of the user.

B. Students are considered as agreeing to the inquiry and residence confirmation by the

application for admission, and if adverse facts are found during the confirmation process,

admission will be canceled.

C. If there is any change in the contact details, please notify the KNU Department of

Admissions (+ 82-41-850-8015).

D. If payment is not made by the due date, application will be cancelled without any further

notice.

E. If there is any difference in translation or interpretation between the English Application

Guide and the Korean Application Guide, it is subject to the Korean Application

Guideline.

F. Other matters not specified in this guideline will be dealt with at the university policy.

- The schedule is subject to changed and if rooms are available, an additional application

for admission will be announced.

- For more information regarding the application period and place, how to apply, and how

to pay for the dormitory fee, please refer to the 'Announcement' section on the KNU

student dormitory homepage.

※ Applicants who apply for admission to the student dormitory must confirm the relevant

information posted on the 'Notice board' on the KNU student dormitory homepage. The

applicant is solely responsible for any disadvantages resulting from not to read the

announcement on the KNU student dormitory homepage.

D. Dormitory Application

- Foreign students have priority for admission when they submit the application.

※ If there is a large number of foreign applicants who would like to enter the dormitory

and the limited spaces are available, then it is not possible to get the admission for all

foreign applicants. If the application is not completed within the deadline, the dorm

application will be invalid.
